What is Science DMZ?

Science DMZ leverages access to a 100Gbps external network, Internet2. While this is It is not a service that users access directly, it allows other services, such as Globus, to be more effective.

Benefits of a Science DMZ

Most networks deploy security mechanisms such as firewalls to protect from malicious intrusion, however, when transferring large amounts of data, firewalls are a significant bottleneck. A Science DMZ allows data to move across an external network boundary through dedicated routing hardware that imposes limited filtering and inspection.
